FF - Your community magazine Sunday morning Craft Market in Jávea

As you stroll along the sea front towards the port of Jávea on a Sunday morning you will probably pass a small craft fair. There are usually (weather permitting) between ten and fifteen stalls and every one displays only items which has been made by the person at the stall.

Obviously you can't hold a big craft market each and every week, but a few carefully selected stalls selling different articles each week, is possible. And so these dedicated people turn up every Sunday morning at about 11 o'clock, and stay until lunch time at 2 pm or so. They are taking turns so that every week the visitor can look at something different. From hand knitted shawls to leather handbags, from original jewelry to hand forged steel coat hangers or handmade felt bags - nothing imported, nothing from a factory, everything individually designed and made. Like visiting an art gallery without art gallery prices.

The fair is organised by Amata, the same association that organises the summer fair in the port of Jávea (see photos at

original. It also becomes possible to order a special piece to suit that special person or situation, and pick it up the next Sunday or the Sunday after. In addition there will be some stalls with locally produced or ecological products.

Several musicians, jugglers and puppeteers have expressed interest and want to get in on the act; to keep costs down they will pass the hat at the end of the show. So,

visit them every Sunday from 11am to 2pm, on the sea front at the end of the Avenida Jaime I in the port of Jávea. If you want to know more, ring 639 979 678 (English spoken).
