Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only is it a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential ex-pat’s researching community life in Spain. The diary also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: The Society is pleased to confirm dates for their forthcoming production of ‘Ruddigore’ in concert. The first performance will be on 13th April at Casa de Cultura, Alfaz del Pi, followed by 21st April at the Salon Blau, Calpe. Cantabile Ladies Choir: The choir are rehearsing their next concert scheduled for Saturday 14th May, 7pm at La Siesta Church.

Careline Theatre: Spring production is a music, dance and comedy revue, ‘After a Fashion’, directed by Andy Crabb and choreographed by Suzanna Mace. Costa Barber Singers: The Barbershop singers now have a new rehearsal venue, Casal de Asociaciones in Benissa. Guests and new singers are always welcome.


Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The choir is adding new songs to its growing repertoire. The main focus is preparation for its first tour to a choir festival in Barcelona this May. New singers have been joining the choir, but they are always ready to welcome more. Interested? Footlights Theatre Group: Footlights say they are launching a new and exciting era of theatre and are actively looking for new members. GASP: Now rehearsing their next production scheduled for May. The play is a fast moving comedy in three acts entitled, ‘Breath of Spring’. It concerns a group of older persons, fur coats, a maid and of course a policeman. Show dates are, 21st and 22nd May at Santara Resort (Life Resort) Gran Alacant. Ticket details will be released in next month’s issue of Stage Diary.


Jávea Players: Roger Brown is directing the first production of Javea Players’ 40th Anniversary Year, ‘Steel Magnolias’. This strong and very emotive but often hilarious play set in Truvy’s Beauty
