The Northgate Soda Shop on North Main Street in Greenville, SC, just blocks from where I lived for 18 years until 2012. My neighbor, Jim DeYoung was the owner of the shop and the primary cook. My family ate there all the time, and I always loved their burgers. Their specialty was the Pimento Cheese Burger, slathered in Jim’s homemade pimento cheese. The kids always loved then “cherry smash” as their drink of choice, but with a full soda jerk station, the drinks were unlimited. There are many other treasures like North-
gate within the pages of Buttermilk & Bible Burgers. I must end this review now, its lunch time. Hey Northgate is only 25 minutes from where I live now in Spartanburg. I need to see if they still have my old autographed photo hanging up in there with one from Michael Jordon. Any excuse for a Northgate burger.
