FOOD & DRINK GREAT PUB GRUB

The Wheelwright Arms in Matfield, The Kentish Hare in Bidborough, The Leicester Arms in Penshurst and The Milk House in Sissinghurst are among entries in new The Michelin Eating Out In Pubs Guide 2016, available in bookshops and at www.travel.michelin.co.uk, priced £14.99. This year’s guide recommends more than 590 pubs, of which 60 are new entries. “This is a carefully-selected group of pubs, chosen for the standard of their cooking,” said Editor, Rebecca Burr. “Each of them has been anonymously judged by our team of full-time inspectors, and we feel justly proud of them. “There’s no denying that there continues to be a demand for good quality food in the relaxed setting of the local pub. We are seeing more and more pubs serving flexible all-day menus, with some even incorporating breakfast, brunch and afternoon tea into their repertoires. The pub industry should be congratulated for moving with the times.”

More than just a coffee shop

The Lodge Coffee Shop first opened its doors in 2008 and since that time has opened four additional shops around the South East. Our most recent project is working with the Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead. The Lodge is

now based inside the community centre and offers a relaxing environment. Whether you plan to meet friends for lunch, find somewhere with a few toys for the kids or simply want to sink into one of our comfy armchairs and read the paper, we can help. We have all the usual favourites on offer and serve food all day from 9am to 5pm. We are not just a coffee shop though, we cater for meetings, parties and private hire and we will be holding regular awareness days and drop-in coffee mornings. • The Lodge, Chequer Mead Community Arts Centre, De La Warr Road, East Grinstead RH19 3BS, call 01732 462428 or visit www.lodgecoffeeshop.co.uk
