If you’ve got children, grandchildren or young nephews and nieces you’ll probably know only too well how many ‘sleeps’ are left until Christmas Day – and hopefully with the help of our 100-plus gift ideas you’ll have the perfect presents picked, wrapped and already under the tree! – but at this most holy time of year we look at the cost of, and commitment involved, in restoring our local churches, many of them falling rapidly into disrepair. We also explore Jane Austen’s connections with Kent as we mark the 240th anniversary of her birth on 16th December.
