Centenary Vision receives royal
approval in New York The Princess Royal has launched Benenden School’s redevelopment programme in New York. The aim of the programme, called the Centenary Vision, is to continue to evolve the complete education on offer at Benenden through its dynamic and relevant curriculum to ensure the girls are prepared for the world in which they will enter in the next decade and beyond. To support this, the school intends to develop a number of state-of-the-art new facilities in time for its centenary in 2023.

GENEROUS DONATION LANDS SCHOOL NEW EQUIPMENT
Hayesbrook School in Tonbridge accepted a generous donation from Barth-Haas UK Limited for the purchase of 45 electronic microscopes.
Mr Adrian Padfield, Chairman of Barth-Haas, enjoyed a visit to the school when he met with a group of students who demonstrated how the microscopes would be used across all the key stages. The students showed off their skills by making slides, staining both plant and animal tissue to allow them to see the cell structure through the new microscopes. Barth-Haas is one of the world’s largest hop supply and research groups.

The joint Heads of Science at Hayesbrook are thrilled with the new microscopes, saying: “This high quality equipment and link with Barth-Haas will be invaluable in supporting the expansion of the thriving science department at Hayesbrook. We were delighted this year to be able to offer biology, physics and chemistry at A-level and this has been enthusiastically supported by our Sixth Form.” Hayesbrook Principal David Day added: “It was extremely generous and kind of Mr Padfield and Barth-Haas to support our science department – the microscopes will be appreciated by all our biologists through the school.”
Anne addressed former Benenden students – known as Seniors – who are now living in America. The Princess Royal, who was a Benenden pupil in the 1960s, formally launched the Centenary Vision in April in London. This New York launch was for the benefit of those seniors who now live in the United States. Headmistress Samantha Price said: “We are
incredibly grateful to the Princess Royal for taking the time to launch our Centenary Vision in New York. Her continued support for our development programme is invaluable.” The Centenary Vision is split into two phases and is being jointly funded by the Benenden School Trust, through school reserves and through fundraising.
