WINE
Anchorage Family Estate New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, 2013 The first thing that ran through my mind
when we first obtained this wine (as a wine of the month from the wine club at Joe’s Place in Greenville, SC) was - Alaska? They make wine in Alaska? Seriously. But no, it is not some weird beverage from the land of Sara Palin. It is a fine wine from New Zealand, a land of such beauty that it was used as the lo- cation for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. And it’s a good one. This wine won the gold medal at the San
By Michael Buffalo Smith We at KUDZOO love our wine, but we are
by no means “wine snobs.” We are of the be- lief that if it is good, it is good, whether it cost $12 or $120. Here are a few of the wines we tasted for this issue.
Toasted Head Barrel Aged Chardonnay California, 2011 Named for the practice of “toasting” barrel
heads with fire which helps to create the toasted flavor of their wines, Toasted Head features a uniquely complex nose, with aro- mas of bourbon, complemented by white peaches, Asian pears and pineapple. Pairs well with beef, especially an ap- plewood bacon cheeseburger! 5 Stars

Anchor- age Sauvignon Blanc woke up my taste buds, big time! Five Stars
Villebois Sauvignon Blanc France 2014 Based in Seigy and Verdigny, Villebois is
situated in the very heart of the Loire Valley of France. Their vineyards are widely renowned for their award winning Sauvignon Blanc wines, and just one taste proves why they have earned that reputation. The grapes are hand-picked from a selection of their old- est vines. This is a concentrated, intense and complex wine with strong vegetable aromas on the nose, including boxwood gooseberry,
