Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only is it a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential ex-pat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.
Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: Rehearsals for the concert performances of ‘Ruddigore’ scheduled for spring 2016, are now well under way.
The society is always pleased to welcome new members to join this friendly group. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Footlights Centre, Calpe. For further information, contact musical director Aileen on 696 514 613.
Campoverde Theatre Group: The Group is presently auditioning for their latest Pantomime, ‘The Owl and the Pussy Cat’ which will be staged in early February 2016. There are lots of roles for actors and chorus members so why not pop along and join this merry bunch. They meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Community Centre, Blue Lagoon at 2pm. Cantabile Ladies Choir : The choir are rehearsing for a ‘concert’ scheduled for
November 28th at La Siesta Church, Torrevieja. They are always seeking new members. If you are interested in joining a group of sociable, friendly ladies who enjoy their music, you will be given a warm welcome. Rehearsals take place every Friday from 3pm to 5pm at La Siesta Church. Careline Theatre: This month’s production is the hit musical ‘Bugsy Malone’ due to be staged on 16th October at 8pm, and 17th October at 3pm and 8pm. The story is set in 1920s Chicago and follows the exploits of Bugsy Malone and Dandy Dan set in Fat Sam’s Grand Slam Speakeasy. Tickets are 10 Euros adults, 6 Euros children under 12. Melody Makers International: The group has started rehearsals for their next concert scheduled for January 30th, 2016. This 2015 season promises to be even more exciting with a spot at the ‘Benidorm Palace Help for Hero’s concert’ on Sunday 4th October. Footlights Theatre Group: Tickets for Calpe based Footlights Theatre Group’s production of the multi award winning Broadway musical ‘Annie’ are now on sale. Jávea Players: Inspired by such works of wisdom as ‘Selling for Beginners’, Richard Harris (Outside Edge, Murder Once Done) has written a wonderfully funny new play, ‘A Foot in the Door’.
