DART HARBOUR
involve a high volume of activity in and near the harbour over this period with around 300 boats competing in 50 races. Dinghy sailing will take place within the river at Dittisham and Kingswear and yacht and day boat racing in the mouth of the river as well as further out to sea. ROWING EVENTS rowing events will begin prior to the regatta with practice races taking place from August 17 to August 21 from 6.30pm to 8pm between noss and Warfleet. Heats will take place on August 23 with semi-finals and long distance whaler race finals August 24 and the finals on August 28. While safety and support craft will be in attendance, we would still ask mariners to take care and keep a watchful eye open. FIREWORK DISPLAYS As usual there will be two firework displays taking place on thursday August 27 from 9.00pm and saturday August 29 again from 9.00pm. this
year the regatta Committee has decided to revert back to holding both displays in the harbour with the fireworks fired from a tms barge moored off the south embankment, secured as usual by Dart Harbour. An exclusion zone will be in force for both events with no vessels permitted in the area between 8.45pm and the end of the display on the appointed days. Harbour Authority vessels will be on patrol to keep this zone clear. AIR DISPLAYS As usual many aircraft displays and a parachute drop are scheduled for Dartmouth regatta. the main displays will take place on August 28 and August 29 with the programme including the pitts s25 Acrobatic Display, the rAF typhoon, battle of britain memorial Flight and the red Arrows. An exclusion zone in the main channel between the higher and lower ferries will be in force for
all displays and no vessels will be permitted in this area between ten minutes before the scheduled display start and the end of the display. Again Harbour Authority vessels will be on patrol to keep these zones clear.
