Professor Rose Marie Parr with Bernard Stottelaar, National Account Manager, RX systems and Harry McQuillan Chief Executive of Community Pharmacy Scotland
OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO PHARMACY PROFESSOR ROSE MARIE PARR MSC PHD FRPHARMS FFRPS
The Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award showcases and celebrates achievement among the community pharmacy sector in Scotland. As well as highlighting the ever increasing contribution pharmacists to the wider healthcare arena, this award is aimed at identifying appropriate role models to inspire and motivate others.
In launching this category we were looking to find, and recognise, an individual who has had a sustained career, which has not only had a very significant contribution to the pharmacy sector, but also has been an inspiration to peers.
None could possibly be as deserving as the recipient of this year’s award Professor Rose Marie Parr, Director of
Pharmacy with NES Scotland.
Rose Marie told us after accepting her award, “Such a surprise to win this; I am truly humbled by it. I have been around pharmacy for such a long time but I don’t feel as though I have done anything extraordinary. I never thought I would be receiving this award and it is lovely to be recognised by your peers and is a beautiful thing to be awarded.
“For a profession it is so important to celebrate success and we just don’t do it enough. Celebrating success improves not only quality but communication amongst all which can only benefit us as an industry and our patients and customers.”
Harry McQuillan, Chief Executive,
Community Pharmacy Scotland presented Professor Parr with his accolade and added, “These awards provide CPS with an opportunity to recognise real success achieved by those people who have put so much into the pharmacy profession over so many years. It is also nice to sometimes surprise some real friends with real words that I hope, and know, the rest of the audience here tonight will truly agree with.”
“I never thought I would be receiving this award and it is lovely to be recognised by your peers
and is a beautiful thing to be awarded.” - Rose Marie Parr
