“THESE AWARDS GET BETTER AND BETTER EVERY YEAR. TO SEE ALL THE INDIVIDUALS GATHERED IN THIS ROOM SHOWS JUST HOW ACROSS THE BOARD IN REPRESENTING THE INDUSTRY THESE AWARDS REALLY ARE. THIS HAS BEEN A FANTASTIC NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY” – Michael Conway, Northern Regional Sales Manager, Teva UK
Professor Rose Marie Parr’s career spans over thirty years in the NHS, most of which has been operating at a very senior level in a variety of very senior positions. This has been coupled with demanding roles with both of Pharmacy’s Professional and Regulatory bodies as well as supporting the Scottish Government in taking forward services at a strategic national level.
Then in 1993 Rose was appointed as Director of the Scottish Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education reporting directly to the Scottish Government Health Directorate where she advised on pharmacy education in practice and academia at a strategic level.
“(Rose Marie) then became the Director of Pharmacy within NHS Education for Scotland when it became a Special Health Board in 2002,” Harry continued. “Interestingly our recipient is currently the only Director of Pharmacy to have an executive position on their respective Health Board.
“It is for this work that our recipient is best known and here are a few of their achievements in this area.
“To cap it all tonight’s recipient is a very approachable, open and genuinely nice person who always goes out of their way to assist where ever they can,” he concluded.
RAISING VITAL FUNDS Money was raised on the night for the incredibly worthwhile charity that
is CCLASP. A staggering £3,500 was raised in total.
Children with Cancer and Leukaemia, Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP) helps children and teenagers suffering from cancer or leukaemia. CCLASP also helps diagnosed families express and share with each other the feelings, anxieties and horror of having a child with a life threatening illness.
CCLASP supports in excess of 500 families and has spent many years building up relationships with other like-minded charities so as to access much needed resources for sick child and their families: whether it be transport to hospitals, holidays or a special wish from a child – CCLASP is there for all of them.
Speaking after the event, Chris Frost, Sales Director with AAH Pharmaceuticals stated, “The Scottish Pharmacist Awards are recognised throughout Scotland as the premier pharmacy event and the key date in everyone in the industry’s calendar. Therefore AAH are very proud to be associated with these awards as a prime sponsor. We have been overwhelmed the night’s proceedings.
“Tonight has been fantastic overall, there is a great atmosphere, it has been wonderful to meet and network with customers and to generally see the worthy winners here tonight do so well.”
Michael Conway, Northern Regional Sales Manager, Teva UK added, “These
