Telecoms tie-up
PCR now operating as part of Abica
Award-winning Glaswegian Young Entrepreneur Nick Cohen has just sold a large stake in his 11-year-old business to another local company, Abica. PCR, which provides IT support to businesses across the UK, is now operating as part of the Abica Telecoms Group, delivering telecoms solutions to the same market. PCR has enjoyed two years of growth, and Abica will support its further UK- wide expansion. PCR will be growing the team in its head office in Glasgow.

CCG commitment to young people wins industry apprentice accolade
CCG has won the accolade of Large Employer of the Year (Scotland) at the Construction Industry Training Board Managing Agency Apprenticeship Awards 2014. Te awards, which celebrate the achievements of apprentices and employers in the industry, were held at the Plaisterers’ Hall in London and hosted by former track athlete Colin Jackson.

Douglas Accountancy and Bookkeeping Services has won the Small Practice of the Year Award at the prestigious ICB Global Awards 2014. These awards are a vibrant celebration of excellence in bookkeeping. The event was held at the home of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, in London in the presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent, Gary Dunn, Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth Secretariat, ambassadors and other representatives from the financial sector. Sarah Douglas of Douglas Accountancy was
delighted to receive the award from Prince Michael. Previously, the company has been shortlisted at awards ceremonies for five years in a row. Active members of Glasgow Chamber such as
CCG has become only the second
construction company to secure the coveted Investors in Young People accreditation, which recognises and promotes employers who are commited to developing skills and young people. Over the past year, CCG has recruited another 21 apprentices, and its trades apprentices now represent 10 per cent of the company’s 600 employees.

Employment law firm Peninsula has announced that it is opening a new office in Glasgow. It expects to create 55 jobs when it opens in March, with the potential to grow the business to 70 jobs within 12 months. The office is expected to house
employment law experts, health and safety consultants and administration staff. In the meantime,the company is renting temporary offices in the Skypark development in Glasgow until its new home is ready.
