PORTALS Zoopla goes to press


Zoopla has signed deals with the community media group, Johnston Press plc, to power a new classified property platform for all of Johnston’s local websites and also with CN Group, to power property search across their news websites in Cumbria, Tynedale and the Borders. Johnston Press publishes


18 daily newspapers including the Yorkshire Evening Post, The Scotsman and the Portsmouth News as well as 237 weekly newspapers and over 270 local websites, with a combined reach of over 13 million people each month. These long term strategic partnerships will see Zoopla extend the distribution and exposure it offers to its agent members onto hundreds of local websites across the UK


and will provide Johnston Press and CN Group with a first class property offering for its sizeable website audience. With CN Group, Zoopla will


exclusively power the property search function for all the newspaper websites and newspapers that include News and Star, Cumberland News and North West Evening Mail. Both partnerships will give agents who advertise with Zoopla even wider distribution and exposure for their listings. Alex Chesterman, CEO of

Signs and lettings boards manufacturer, Kremer Signs, is to launch a new innovative product for agents using QR codes. Using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, Smartboard will not only take the person scanning the board directly to the property on their smart phone but once they


building into the board an NFC chip which, as new mobiles are launched with this technology, will allow potential purchasers to simply hold their phone up to the Smartboard and automatically receive the property information – without any downloaded software. Smartboard uses the same technology as the new contactless enabled credit and debit cards.
