to see the journey from finding out about the offer, being checked and offered places, and taking them up is as swift and simple as possible. As a whole local authority duty, not just early years, we are also focusing on ensuring the offer is integrated with children’s centre and other outreach services like health visiting.

What happens afterwards? A few people have asked me what we will be doing in April 2015, when the contract ends. I say that after we have a little break and a celebration, it will be business as usual! The two year old offer of course will be here to stay and we will be here to help anyone who wants it. Hempsall’s is 15 years old this year, and we’ve maintained our training, research and consultancy offers, so we will have over 300 training courses to deliver, various work with children’s centre reviews and Ofsted preparation, and lots of smaller contracts to deliver like our parent volunteering, business support, and childcare sufficiency research. There’s always plenty to do in early years!”
