independent of the other if we are to achieve the best outcomes possible for the children that we support. I find myself confidently challenging partner agencies, commissioners and our own internal systems based on the premise of child-centredness. When I say challenged, I do not mean that the NPQICL encouraged me to enjoy confrontation, but that I am confident in opening the dialogue about “how is it for the child?”

that in 1-1 supervision, individual team members can be more easily coached through

taking on this approach because irrespective of their theoretical knowledge or qualification the one common thing we share is a desire to work firstly with the children and equally to ensure the child gets the best that can be offered.

I have noticed that as my skills develop,

becomes more child-centred too and this is paramount as I know only too well that their lives are filled with well-intentioned professionals such as me, but in reality they are the ones that are the lifelong partners in their child’s life.

I have interviewed administrators, cleaners and play staff in this

Recently I have watched and supported a colleague engage in the NPQICL and almost by proxy I took on more learning. So now I am drawing on my NPQICL all over again to look at my next steps and I am embarking on completing a masters qualification. This is what my NPQICL taught me ….never say never .
