PEOPLE

I started my NPQICL journey in September 2013 when I travelled to the Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC). Alongside this, I began my new role as the Lead Early Years and Family Support Worker, working in the already established Children’s Centre and supporting the implementation of the new Nurture Nursery.

NPQICL has allowed me to understand myself as a leader; giving me opportunities to challenge, reflect, interact, question and enjoy myself! I learnt to trust the process and as a result

development for me and was an aspect I identified early on in the course, using it as a focus for the first research project. The process of completing the project, alongside the analysis of the research boosted my confidence tremendously

My new found confidence has had a positive impact on my practice; I feel confident to say ‘I do not need to know it all’ and find myself taking risks, trying new things, being innovative and reflective. I am able to support and lead the team

In attending my celebration day in July, it was empowering to share my journey with the rest of the cohort which stimulates my continuing personal, professional development journey.
