PRACTICE
Sheila wears her leadership mantle with pride. She has generously shared her skills in Coventry, as well as far and wide across the country. She is a contemporary pioneer who paved a pathway for us all to follow.
A woman who makes me feel confident when I am unsure, and brings me back to reality when I tend to overconfidence. Our conversation reminded me about
the importance of professional networking: highlighting that as leaders we need to network both inside and outside professional boundaries, seeking out those who should be interested in our work, rather than those obviously drawn towards it. Like Sheila: be passionate, principled, and proactive, on behalf of all children and families.

Mentoring theory with credibility
As a finale I would also like to thank the many other generous leaders that have been significant in my own leadership journey: Caroline, Sue, Margy, Karen, Gerri, Paul, Carol, Annette, Annie, Elaine, Maxine, Ang and of course,
Vicki. Each of you has added one layer of the babushka I am today.
Senior teaching fellow in the Centre for Education Studies and the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
