Sunday brunch feels a little like vacation; like we’re stealing a few extra pleasurable hours and stretching out the weekend. Add a water view, and now we’re talking some serious hedonism. The work week ahead is not even on our minds. Outdoor dining at Jackson’s Bistro on

Harbour Island has been a fun, waterfront spot for locals and travelers since 1997. We have enjoyed lunch, dinner and fun Yappy Hours at this cool venue, but never brunch. Our brunch party was seated in a

semi-private cabana under a canopy of canvas and flowing drapes, creating a feel- ing that we had our own private dining room right on the water. Wait a minute. Does dining doggie

Chivalry is alive and well. When a breeze whisked off Bailey’s sunglasses to the deck below, one of the dining room’s servers rushed down two flights of stairs to quickly retrieve them.

diva Bailey of The New Barker fame have this much pull with management at Jackson’s Bistro? Not really. Every seat offers up a great view, and there are plenty of cabanas. The first order of the day? Fresh,

chilled water in a designated dog bowl for Miss Bailey. Then chilled mimosas for the humans to help get the party started. Speaking of getaways, plan to make

several mini excursions to the Brunch bar. It offers a variety of options from breakfast items to lunch entrees. We recommend several return trips to fill your plate with just a few items at a time, otherwise it can be a bit overwhelming back at the table. Pace yourself, that’s the key. And try not to eat with your eyes when making your selections. You will find a sushi station, pasta station and carving station, pastries and dessert stations; plenty of salad and vegetable items, and a chef waiting to help you create your own omelet. So, here is another recommendation.

It is impossible to try everything on the brunch menu. Enjoy a well-balanced selection and return the following week. At $21.95 per adult, this is one of the best brunch values in the Tampa Bay Area. Everyone’s taste buds were completely

satisfied during our visit. Service was effi- cient and friendly, and we never felt rushed to leave.

This is paradise in Tampa Bay: a water

view, boats sailing by, a nice breeze, people and dog-watching. Delicious food. Great company to enjoy it with. At this rate, brunch could definitely last forever.
