Monica Silva, owner and general manager of Country Inn Pet Resort and Animal Hospital, was crazy about Cesar Millan from the first time she watched him on TV. “Cesar’s philosophy always resonated with me. I love his attention to body language, and starting from the ground up,” Monica stated. She feels his com- mon sense approach and devotion to dogs are admirable. She relished every episode of The Dog Whisperer, bought his books, DVDs and subscribed to his magazine. Monica secretly hoped someday they might meet, and maybe he’d even agree to film an episode at her Country Inn Pet Resort. Unfortunately, after 150 episodes, The Dog Whisperer was canceled. Undeterred, Monica mailed Cesar

a package that included a picture book of her facility along with a letter intro- ducing herself. In the letter she expressed an interest in opening an east coast version of Millan’s Dog Psychology Center. Following a scheduled Millan 2013 live show performance in Miami, the director of the Cesar Millan Foundation paid a visit to Country Inn Pet Resort. Later, two top executives visited with Monica at the resort. “After all of these meetings and conversations, my dream became a reality,” said Monica. Once approved, they undergo addi- tional training and eventually shadow Cesar and his master trainers at work- shops and clinics. After they shadow a training course, they assist Cesar at one of his workshops. Only after Cesar feels the trainers are ready, are they actually approved to begin train- ing at a new DPC. Third: An inspection of the facility is conducted to ensure it's safe, clean and run in a manner that is consistent

Monica and Cesar are now partners in the first Dog Psychology Center outside of Santa Clarita, California where his fabled Dog Psychology Center originated. In the words of Walt Disney, “All our dreams can come true,

if we have the courage to pursue them.” Monica had a vision and the audacity to see it through. Now Country Inn Pet Resort has expanded to 20,000 square feet under air with the addition of the Dog Psychology Center. More than fifty people, many accompanied by their dogs, enrolled for the first on-site, five day intensive workshop, also held in January, 2014.
