the North American indoor tanning industry. The year was 1979, and Bill had just gone into business for him- self doing plumbing and electrical work, and eventu- ally building saunas and spas, as well. “One day, a cli- ent asked if I could build him a tanning unit,” he says. “I began researching the European equipment that was being imported at that time and figured that, given my electrical knowledge, it was something I could do. Since there was no tanning industry here at that time, I or- dered most of my parts from Holland and built a tanning unit that consisted of a large, wooden box with bottom- only sunlamps. But it sold.” This was the start of Uvalux, which would soon grow into distributing tanning units, lotions, sunlamps and accessories. “Today, we have over 76 employees in four facilities across the country, mak- ing us the largest distributor in the Canadian market. We’re proud of our history, and we always remember that we continue to succeed by helping our clients be more successful.”
