Shen Yun Chinese Dance Ticket Winners April 14

Our competition winner of the Shen Yun tickets last month was Di Leadbeater of MillenniumWay, Cirencester. She brought her daughter in law Katrina with her to the ICC Birmingham for the show. We all had a clear view of the stage from our comfortable seats.

The show was compelling from start to finish with an explosion of colours and skilfully choreographed movement. The fabulous storytelling was enhanced with clever background visuals that linked seamlessly to the real-life performers who interspersed magical pantomime scenarios with faultlessly synchronised dances and gymnastic tumbling. Fabulous! JSF

Barnsley Village Garden Festival Sat 17th May

Help celebrate the coming of summer in Barnsley, near Cirencester, on Saturday May 17th, from 10.30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Over ten village gardens will be open, ranging from the grandest at Barnsley Park, Gloucestershire’s loveliest Georgian mansion, to the most celebrated at Barnsley House Hotel, once home of Rosemary Verey, and the more modern and yet oft time winner of the Best Garden prize, at ‘Stonesthrow’ opposite the Village Pub which is open all day!

Teas, burgers, ale and ice cream will be on offer.

The £7 village passport includes the clowns, may -pole dancing and jazz, with all profits going to local charities. There are plenty of stalls too.

The church and local arboretum are also open and there will be garden tours and a talk on Rosemary Verey during the day.

Celebrity garden judge for 2014 will be ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant, Fiona Fullerton.
