Cirencester Scene Magazine - Establishing Local Connections Helpful Hands
“We enjoy making a difference to their lives through our work. Our clients span all ages, from busy young couples to people in their nineties.
We operate flexible and dependable services tailor made to customers' needs. On a weekly basis we help several older customers who wish to be independent, by doing the 'hard graft' or awkward work, including changing a light bulb!
Once we helped a brave chap who suffered diabetes and had had both legs amputated, and was bed bound. We cleaned his house, did his shopping and liaised with his carers.
In other jobs, we help de-clutter people's houses which always brings a sigh of relief.
We often clean properties after renovation work. A couple recently moved in from Monaco and appointed us to clean their outbuildings to store
Helpful Hands is now six years old and Nicola and her staff have encountered some memorable situations with their customers over the years. She says,
Helpful Hands cleaning tips *Soda crystals are also effective in boiled water to soak in burnt baking dishes *Magic sponges wipe off scuff marks from skirting boards, walls and stains on hard surfaces. *Metal scourers used gently take off limescale and water marks from glass, tiles and baths.
their shipped belongings (16 containers worth!). We then cleaned the main house in sections following a succession of building works and unpacked boxes, returning seven times to the point of finish.
People often book end of tenancy or move-in cleans. One memorable clean was a six bedroom country house that had 'gone to nature' with literally hundreds of dead ladybirds inside the windows and beams covered with cobwebs. Three of our teamworked like Trojans and cleaned the house throughout, enabling the family to move in the next day!”
