was “over the moon and completely lost for words” to be invited onto the stage to receive her gold medal from Crown Paints Trade Marketing Manager Debbie Orr. In addition, Sandie also received the Crown Trade Apprentice Decorator of the Year trophy and £1,000 from the manufacturer. Also called to the stage were Silver medal winner, 23-year old Lee Bellamy representing Sheffield City College, and Bronze medal winner Kristian Pilmer, a Bagnalls employee representing New College Durham. Now that our national final is also an integral part of the Skills Show, which reaches out in such an exciting, inspirational and inclusive way to so many thousands of young people considering their future careers, it has taken our event to a completely new level.” 

Neil Ogilvie lends a hand

PDA Chief Executive Neil Ogilvie was delighted to attend the SkillBuild event and be part of the judging panel for the Crown WorldSkills UK National Competition. Neil said ‘It’s been a tremendous event and it is great to see showcased the amazing talent of these young people. It was very difficult judging the finalists as their work was of such a high standard, but I’m delighted that Sandie was the overall winner and wish her all the very best in the future.”
