THE WINNERS OF Dulux Trade’s annual search for Most Trusted Contractor Painter and Most Trusted Decorator were announced before Christmas at a judging and presentation ceremony at Walton Hall in Warwickshire. Kenny Halsall, of Bagnalls, has been awarded the title of Dulux Trade Most
Trusted Contractor Painter 2013. The paint manufacturer presented Kenny with the accolade following its UK-wide search for the top commercial painter. The Most Trusted Contractor Painter competition was launched in August
last year to find contractor painters across the UK who excel in their role and are a source of pride for the people they work with. Duncan Lochhead, Commercial Marketing Manager at AkzoNobel, parent
company of Dulux Trade, explains: “Through the Most Trusted Contractor Painter competition, we wanted to raise the profile of contractor painters and highlight the importance of maintaining high quality workmanship. There was a fantastic response to this year’s campaign and it has highlighted the excellent calibre of people and unsung heroes that exist in the industry.” Contracting companies were invited to nominate their brightest and best
staff, and over 750 nominations were received. A judging panel then shortlisted seven regional winners to go through to the final stage. Kenny was chosen as the North West regional winner after being
nominated by his Branch Manager, Mike Worrall, who praised him for his dedication, rapport with clients and high standard of work. A panel of industry experts then put the finalists through their paces, before
deliberating on who should be declared overall winner. Commenting on his win, Kenny said: “Winning the regional title came as a big surprise and it’s incredible to win the overall prize. It meant a lot to be

nominated by Mike Worrall, my Branch Manager, as I’ve been with the company for 30 years now and have had the chance to work on some fantastic projects. I’m very proud to be recognised in this way and would like to thank Bagnalls for supporting me.” All seven regional winners received a football shirt of their choice and, as
overall winner, Kenny also takes home two tickets to watch a premiership team of his choice, an overnight stay in a four star hotel and £500 to spend in his chosen department store. Meanwhile, David Robinson, of Cullybackey, Northern Ireland, is also
celebrating after being selected as the UK’s Most Trusted Decorator. Over 700 nominations were received from homeowners nationwide, before
a judging panel shortlisted 10 regional winners to go through to the final stage of the competition. David was chosen, with customers praising him for his workmanship, friendly manner and excellent customer advice. David said: “I was completely shocked when I found out that I’d won the
regional title, and to be awarded the overall prize is the icing on the cake. Being nominated by my customers is very satisfying and a great honour, as it has always been my top priority to provide a service that they are happy with. I’m very proud to be recognised alongside such fantastic craftsmen, and I would like to thank everyone that took the time to nominate me.” As a regional winner, David has already received free membership of the
Dulux Select Decorator scheme for one year, and as overall winner takes home a prize of free fuel for a year in recognition of his achievement.

Fuel for inspiration
A FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN is offering decorators the chance to win a £100 fuel voucher. If you have used Crown Trade, Sadolin or Sandtex Trade products, you can post photographs of recent projects on Crown Paints Professional’s Facebook page. Each month a £100 fuel voucher will be awarded to the people behind the project which attracts the most online votes. Crown Paints’ Debbie Orr, said: “There are
