Some estimated 7,610 meters of berms and dykes are proposed to be built by the City, although at this state these are just preliminary points that have been identified as being critical for the flood mitigation plans and could change in the future
This includes:
❚ $1.2 million for the City's power and water plants, includin fu
cluding
a 100-metre long concrete embankment as well as a further 640-metre protective barrier.
❚ Harlow - $1.48 million for a raised trail stretching 750 metres along the river bank in the low-laying community;

❚ Lions Park - $3.01 million to raise the existing berm and walking path for 1.7 kilometres;
for 1.7
❚ Industrial Ave. - $1.42 million for 720 metres of raised road elevation and a dyke near Ross Creek;
❚ Riverside - $1.58 million for an 800-metre barrier that crosses private lots; ❚ River Road - $394,000 for about 200 metres of raised trail at the lowest elevations.
With about $14 million in funds already approved from provincial mitigation program, the work is forecasted to be done by 2016 with one-third completed in each of the next three years.
Two other projects - berms proposed for Kipling Street and from Kingsway Avenue eastward, costing about $3 million each — are being considered for provincial funding. Based on the funding formula, the City will only have to cover $500,000 of this amount.
