Ward 1 Hilda/Schuler
Arthur Squire was raised in Maple Creek, Sask. He married his wife, Marlene, in 1966 and has two children who've now grown and left home. He moved to Schuler, Alta. in 1976 to work for the natural gas industry, where he worked until his retirement in November 2013. Arthur said he felt he could do a service to the people by listening to them and putting their concerns out in the open. He was newly elected to council in the October 2013 election and says by the end of term he would like to see school bus routes made safer, as well as addressing a variety of other county concerns.

darcygeigle Ward 2 Irvine/Walsh
Darcy Geigle is a third generation farmer from the Irvine area. He is a recognizable figure on council, currently serving his fourth term. As Reeve of the Cypress County council, Darcy is focused on taking care of hamlets in the area, as well as finalizing and finishing the water line to Irvine and Walsh. He is curious to hear the ideas and plans of the new members and says council has big plans for the next four years including developing a game plan for the roads, looking at standards and costs.

Ward 3 Elkwater
Ernest Mudie has deep roots in the Elkwater area. His grandfather farmed south of Elkwater in 1898 and Ernest took up the family business. He has farmed all his life and now lives a mere 100 yards away from his grandfather's homestead. At 64 years old, he has just been newly elected to council for the Elkwater area. Ernest plans to provide as much service to the people as he can. One of the big projects, getting a water line to Irvine and Walsh, is high on his list of priorities. He says one of the challenges this term will be balancing a budget with the rising cost of construction for such projects as roads.
