Ward 4 - Longfellow
Garry Lentz is now on his fifth term as councillor for the Longfellow area. He attended school in Irvine as well as Medicine Hat. Upon graduation he went to SAIT and eventually became a journeyman motor mechanic. He has since owned and operated several businesses, including a welding and mechanic shop that he ran for 25 years. Since retirement Garry took up the family business, farming. His father and mother's families moved to the area in 1902 to farm and ranch. In 1985, Garry bought the family farm where he now farms full-time. The regional water line to Walsh means more open opportunities for rural residents says Garry. He would like to achieve the best level of service to agricultural producers.
danhamilton Ward 5 - Dunmore/Veinerville
Dan Hamilton has lived in the Medicine Hat area his whole life. He has been self-employed for the majority of his life and has owned Saamis Moving and Storage for 20 years. He moved to Dunmore in 1999 and was newly elected to serve the Dunmore/Veinerville ward in the October 2013 municipal election. He is learning a lot in his new position and said he hopes to meet with the people of Dunmore to hear their concerns. Dan said he likes to be straightforward and has already had projects for this term catch his eye.
dustinvossler Ward 6 - Black & White/Seven Persons
Dustin Vossler has lived in the Cypress County area his entire life. He graduated from Eagle Butte High School and then entered the work force, apprenticing as a mechanic. The rest, he says, is history. He's been farming between Seven Persons and Medicine Hat since he was 23. Dustin loves the farm life and hopes council can provide support for the many rural communities in the county. He was newly elected to council in October 2013 and said his main interest is to convey the people's concerns into the council chambers. Dustin would like to work on more support for community facilities, such as the community hall in Seven Persons, one of the areas he represents on council.
richardoster Ward 7 - Seven Person North/Desert Blume
Richard Oster, now 61 years old, was born and raised in Medicine Hat. He worked for his dad's company, Art's Excavating, for 47 years. In 1982, Richard took over the company and worked with it until his retirement in March 2013. Richard with his wife, Charlene, moved out of the city about two years ago, but still live nearby. Richard plans to use his business experience to help council move forward. He says his focus is making sure the small communities in the area stay alive and vibrant. Richard was elected to council in October 2013 and is working on his first term with council. He is excited to move ahead and thinks it's important to finish the water line to the Irvine area.
