MAB W
Conference BACK TO THE FUTURE
ith inspirational speakers, robots, and giant heads – MAB’s 2014 Conference was certainly unlike any other from previous years.
Taking place at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, just over 700 people attended the futuristic-themed event that played host to 37 exhibitors, a panel of industry experts, and two guest speakers.
The ceremony was kicked off in typical MAB style with CEO Peter Brodnicki taking to the stage – as an 8-foot robot, named Titan.
Joining Peter on stage later on in the day was speaker Richard Verdin and author Robin Sieger.
Speaking about behavioural economics within the industry and using visual psychological tricks, Verdin delivered a motivational message to the advisers on protection and the importance of following social norms.
Continuing on from Verdin, speaker and author, Robin Sieger, gave his memorable ‘Natural Born Winners’ talk, complete with jokes about bankers he met when he was 22 years old, youthful haircuts and potty training!
Setting the precedent for what was an extremely funny yet informative speech on what lies at the heart of someone’s success, Sieger drilled home the message to seize every chance and take every opportunity.
The Great MAB Debate this year was again hosted by head of Incisive Media’s Mortgage Division, Bharat Sugar. Joined by industry heavyweights such as Steve Weston from Barclays and Stephen Smith from Legal & General, topics up for discussion during the debate were the MMR, broker market share, the opportunities in 2014, intermediary and surveyor capacity, and specialist lending.
