Alumno Developments has won £15 million of funding for its purpose-built Scottish student accommodation project in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
It has also arranged a 21-year management deal for the 174-bed development on Dumbarton Road near Partick Cross, which is being built by Kier Construction and is within walking distance of the University of Glasgow.
Managing Director of London- based Alumno, David Campbell, who is from Glasgow, revealed that the development is being backed by Lothbury Investment Management,
which has 97 institutional clients, 68 of which are large corporate pension trust funds.
Campbell said: “We welcome this
backing by such a major investment manager in the sector, our second project with Lothbury. This project is an important step in our aspirations to progress with further development and investment opportunities in Scotland.” He also revealed that Derwent
Students, an offshoot of Derwent Living Group, the Midlands-based affordable housing provider, had taken up a 21-year lease to manage the Dumbarton Road development.
