The school bus is vital to these. How do we engage families, help children to develop skills and knowledge to be successful and collaborate with educational staff to support their efforts? Join us in this workshop as we discover new ways to promote school readiness in transportation.
Travel Training for Young Riders Presenter: Kathleen Furneaux Walking up to the big yellow bus on the first day of their Head Start program can be the scariest moment a young child has ever experienced. Fear is heightened by not knowing what is going to happen once once these young children are on board this big yellow bus. What they trust is Mom or Dad driving them, but now they face a stranger behind the wheel. Travel training alleviates the anxiety for children when transitioning from the family car to the big yellow, bus. This workshop will explore the key elements of travel training for these young riders and the transitions that should be considered.
