 IN SEASON 5

Make your own Many of us will already prepare most of our

meals from scratch, but what about your own bread, chutney, jam, sauces and pasta? Why not make 2014 the year that you master that culinary skill you have always wanted to? It could even be the dreaded puff pastry! Making your own is deeply satisfying and you are learning a new skill along the way too. No ex- cuses either, because even if you don’t have enough time in the week, you can always set aside an hour at the weekend – why not get the kids involved too?

FISH FRIDAY Jan 24th from

12pm 4 EAT MORE VEG

You may already be very good at this, but we also know that managing a varied 5 a day can be tricky

unless you make a conscious effort. Soups are a great way to eat more veg, perfect at this time of year, but being creative with vegetarian main courses can also be great fun. See our ‘Meat free meal ideas’ feature for some suggestions. Putting more vegetables into your main meal makes it easier to eat less meat and fi sh and will help you on your way to 5 a day.
