Smoke & Fire THE ORIGINAL JUST GOT BETTER

AICO RADIOLINK WIRE FREE ALARM INTERCONNECTION SYSTEM UPGRADED

Aico, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of domestic mains powered Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms, is pleased to announce its market-lead- ing RadioLINK Professional wireless interconnection technology has been upgraded to feature remote House Code entry and the ability to add full control to mixed (or ‘hybrid’) hard-wired and RF systems.

RadioLINK works by allowing Aico Multi-Sensor, Smoke, heat and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms to be wirelessly interconnected by Radio Frequency (RF) signals, rather than cabling. If one alarm on the system is triggered, RF signals cause every other alarm on that system to sound, providing the earliest warning to the building’s occupants. Because there is no need to run interconnect cabling between the alarms and lift floorboards, chase cables or fit trunking, RadioLINK saves time and disruption when installing systems in existing properties.

RadioLINK has now been further enhanced to allow for Remote House Code entry, which can save time and get over access issues when installing smoke alarms into HMOs and flats. RadioLINK can provide effective coverage in communal areas and individual apart- ments in HMOs because it provides a high level of tenant safety at an affordable price. RadioLINK alarms are fitted in the communal areas and / or stairwells, and wirelessly interconnected to Heat alarms just inside the entrance to each individual flat.

The new remote House Code entry feature now removes the need to gain access to every flat simultaneously to House Code the system together. One RadioLINK base can be used to put all the other bases in the system into House Code mode, so alarms can easily be added to a system at a later date if it isn’t possible to access all the flats in one go.

In addition, the upgrade to the RadioLINK base now enables installers to add control to mixed (or ‘hybrid’) hard-wired and RF systems. Simplicity itself, all that is required to achieve this is replacing a single base on the hard-wired system with a new RadioLINK base. Once completed, a RadioLINK Control Switch can then be fitted to provide full control of the entire hybrid system. The Control Switch allows residents to quickly identify and locate the exact unit which has triggered, and simply test and silence all the alarms on the system from one convenient, wall mounted location.

Recessed Ceiling Air Valves are widely used used in both domestic and commercial buildings. Once a hole is made in a ceiling for an Air Valve, the integrity of the construction and its ability to perform in a fire is reduced significantly. Ceiling Air Valves, if left unprotected, allow a fire to spread rapidly through a building. Ceilings must be fire protected in accordance with Approved Document B of the Building Regulations, which states the ceiling must be firestopped to reinstate the original fire rating.

TENMAT offer a full range of Fire Rated Ceiling Air Valves, available in all common sizes for both Extract & Supply, tested to the latest EN test standards. The TENMAT Firefly Fire Rated Ceiling Air Valves are a unique and highly cost effective alternative to Air Valves with fusible link fire dampers. In a fire situation, the integral intumescent material rapidly expands to seal off the Air Valve and reinstate the fire resistance rating of the ceiling. This limits the risk of fire and heat spread throughout the building. The Fire Rated Ceiling Air Valve is installed as normal with air flow through the Air Valve unaffected. The product also requires no maintenance unlike many fusible link fire dampers.

It is now coomon practise to install fire rated downlights in order to reinstate the fire performance of a ceiling, yet in the same ceiling there are often unprotected Ceiling Air Valves. This means that in the event of a fire, the unprotected Ceiling Air Valve would act as an open passage for fire spread..

The rule of thumb is, if you have fire rated Downlights you will need Fire Rated Ceiling Air Valves.

TENMAT is also excited to be the first manufacturer of CE Marked ventilation duct firestopping products. The FireFly 109 Vent Duct Fire Sleeves have been tested and approved to the most onerous European ‘Uncapped / Uncapped’ test standards and are third party assessed and audited to provide total ‘peace of mind’ to its customers.

In 2012 TENMAT scooped The Queen’s Award for Innovation for it’s range of Fire Protection Products including the Firefly 109 Vent Duct Fire Sleeves. TENMAT was a Supplier of the Vent Duct Sleeves (Olympic Village) to the London 2012 games. In 2013 TENMAT have won The Queen’s Award for International Trade, with dynamic export sales over recent years. This shows that TENMAT can not only develop world beating fire protection products but also offer supreme distribution and customer service worldwide. In addition the products developed and manufactured by TENMAT can compete and win against both locally and internationally produced products both in terms of commercial and technical specifications.
