Cirencester Scene Magazine - Establishing Local Connections Cirencester Gets Set to Love Parks
People of Cirencester are showing how much they love their local parks by getting out and celebrating national Love Parks Week, which will take place from Saturday 27th July to Sunday 4th August, the first week of the school holidays.
Cirencester is celebrating Love Parks Week with events across the Abbey Grounds, St Michael’s, 4 Acre Field and Thistle Park.
Chesterton Community Project will be opening the week’s celebrations with their community fete at Thistle Park on 27th July 2013 from 1pm whilst the Friends of Amphitheatre/ Bullring (FAB) will be hosting a community BBQ on 3rd August 2013 from 2pm.
Sandwiched between the two are a host of events and activities aimed at families such as pond dipping, circus workshops, storytelling and sport sessions to name a few!
Cirencester Town Council are proud to be hosting its second year of Love Parks Week activities; going bigger and better than last year when the Friends of Abbey Grounds set the standard for future years.
Roly Hughes, Chesterton Community Project Chairman and local Councillor said: “Last year events were put on in the Abbey Grounds for Love Parks Week, this year more community groups are getting involved so we can deliver a programme of events across the town - Chesterton Community Project are proud to be hosting a fete in the newly improved Thistle Park, Chesterton Lane under the Love Parks Week banner”.
Calling upon all green space lovers, Andrea Pellegram, FAB Chairperson requested “please get involved with the campaign and support your local event. If they are to remain at the heart of communities, parks need people more than ever.”
