The Phoenix Rising: Abundance of Community Spirit

Anyone who came along to the Phoenix Festival in Cirencester this year would surely agree that it was an amazing outpouring of community spirit. All the acts showed incredible willingness to perform and the stage, lights and sound were far superior to anyone’s expectations. In fact many paying festivals would have been proud of what was on offer.

What was clearly evident was the enjoyment on everyone’s faces; young and old alike. What a wholly satisfying feeling to see the result of hard work

by mostly and

representing the young and the town of Cirencester.

It seems that times are truly changing and Cirencester is in the middle of a sea-change. We seem to be happy to put the effort and work into an event that represents us and we can be truly proud of.

The Spirit of the Phoenix rising from the ashes still pervades the air and as the flames die down this year we can look forward to many more.

performances far beyond their years. With that, most musicians went on to be interviewed by www.pancastpoductions.co.uk and Corinium Radio. Local film companies Loz Media and Heats-productions also covered the festival.

My personal experience on stage with Last Exit Saints was a feeling of witnessing something momentous happening. A local gathering of this scale is something I’ve been lucky to witness around 3 or 4 times in the last 20 years. It was an absolute joy and privilege to perform with my band members

and quite

euphoric to connect with the audience.

I was as happy to watch the acts as to take part as an audience member. The buzz and

closeness

amongst the organisers and volunteers was deeply

touching. I felt proud that this festival belongs to Cirencester and I was lucky to be involved. I’m looking forward to next year with timely anticipation. The Phoenix will rise again. See

you there ! John Parker
