OTHER NOTABLES:

Several other racers are expected to make one or more NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 appear- ances this season. The series attracts a wide range of racers,

eager to measure themselves against Canada’s best when the Canadian Tire Series visits their region. In early June, former F1 world champion

and IndyCar champ Jacques Villeneuve an- nounced he’ll be in the field for the August 11 Canadian Tire Series race at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. Current IndyCar racer Alex Tagliani, who did a full season in the Canadian Tire Series and has a win to his credit, will the No. 28 GoJit / EPIPEN / Sennheiser Dodge at Trois-Rivières. Another internationally known racer to

watch for is Cameron Hayley. The young Calgarian made headlines in February when he won the inaugural UNOH ‘Battle At The Beach’ NASCAR K&N Pro Series event at Daytona International Speedway. The race took place during Speedweeks and Hayley – who is a regular competitor on the K&N Pro Series West tour – exploded on the world stock car stage when he came out on top of an all-star field. Hayley will drive a DJ Kennington-pre-

pared, Cabinets By Hayley-sponsored Dodge in the Canadian Tire Series races at Motoplex Speedway (Vernon, BC) and Auto Clearing Motor Speedway (Saskatoon, SK). While Hay- ley has never driven a Canadian Tire Series car before, he’s proven to be a versatile com- petitor who can drive pretty much anything. “I’m not sure what to expect with these

cars,” said Hayley. “I’m assuming they’re similar to the K&N Pro Series cars; kind of big and heavy. I feel confident that with DJ’s help we can do well. I think we might sur- prise some people and perhaps come away with a top three, maybe even a win.” Several other western Canadian stock car

drivers are expected to be in the field for the series’ two western stops, including Jim White (Kamloops, BC / No. 24), Bob De- Lorme (Calgary, AB / No. 33 Deerfoot Me- chanical Chevrolet), Nathan Weenk (Lethbridge, AB / No. 48 MidWest Combus- tion Chevrolet), Jason Hankewich (Kindersley, SK / No. 49 Hankewich Motorsports Chevro- let) and Kelly Admiraal (Sherwood Park, AB / No. 83 Western Camp Service Chevrolet). The series also has a strong contingent of

Quebec racers who take part in several events each summer. They include former NHL player Patrice Brisebois (St. Bruno, QC / No. 71 L’Equipeur Dodge), Isabelle Trem- blay (St. Hippolyte, QC / No. 07 Frank Lyman Dodge), Benoit Theetge (Boischatel, QC / No. 73 Auto Frank et Michel Chevro- let), Alex Labbé (St. Albert, QC / No. 36 VR Victoriaville Dodge) and brothers Derek and Brandon White, of Kahnawake, QC. Derek drives the No. 99 VIP Poker Chevrolet, while Brandon pilots the team’s No. 88 Bow Mo- torsports Chevrolet. Another high profile Quebec star who will

be making select Canadian Tire Series starts in 2013 is two-time series champ Andrew Ranger (Roxton Pond, QC / No. 27 Cité de Mirabel Dodge). Watch for him at Circuit ICAR and at the GP de Trois-Rivières. When the series heads to Nova Scotia’s

Riverside International Speedway, the locals cheer for Antigonish, NS racer Donald Chisholm in the No. 89 Nova Construction / Keltic Ford. Another Maritime star, John Flemming (Williamswood, NS / No. 10 Chevrolet), is also expected for the event. And with six of the series’ 12 races taking

place in Ontario, there are several racers from that province who attend multiple Canadian Tire Series events. They include: Halton Hills, ON’s Peter Klutt (No. 42 Leg- endary MotorCar Chevrolet) and his sons Gary and Ryan (No. 59 K-Line Chevrolet) and Dave Thorndyke (Oshawa, ON / No. 67 Shell Rotella Chevrolet).
