EDITION 13 May - June 2013 Bin collection changes

SOME residents could be affected by a change in bin collection days over the coming months. A review of waste collection rounds is being carried out in the county. Approximately 175 collection rounds with more than 35 vehicles work out of three depots based at Cillefwr in Carmarthen, Trostre in Llanelli and Glanaman. Many of the rounds have been inherited from former councils and have existed for a number of years. The review will organise the routes more efficiently and involves equalising the tonnages collected by each crew. Unfortunately, the re-organisation of the routes will mean a number of households will have a change in collection days. Approximately 9,000 households in the Llanelli and Gwendraeth Valley areas have already changed. Residents affected will receive a letter from the council with details of their new collection day. The changes will not affect whether it is a blue or black bag week. If you are unsure you can view the calendar online at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk/recycling or call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.

volunteers and the hospital play specialist were encouraged through training to consider language on the ward and as a result, money donated by Family Programmes went into buying resources for 100 family packs. Sister Janet Millward said: “We are delighted that this training is not only being put into practice on

the ward but that we have been able to produce a pack for families to use. We hope the packs will help support the families of unwell children as well as the children themselves.” Over 15 partners contributed with

their own information leaflets, including Menter Gorllewin sir Gar and the Carmarthenshire Referral Scheme, which also helped put the packs together. Families will be able to see packs on display in the parents’ room, and also have the opportunity to request a pack for themselves from a member of staff.
