EDITION 13 May - June 2013 Welcome
As a Local Service Board, we are all concerned about the effects the welfare reforms will have on residents of Carmarthenshire. As a council, we are aiming to
provide as much information and access to support as we can. We are making a range of information available on our website, and encouraging people to contact Advice Support Carmarthenshire. We are also organising roadshows across the county which we hope people find very useful. On a happier note, this edition also focuses on the grand
reopening of Llanelli town centre, following a £60million investment. A three day programme will celebrate the culmination of this work, I hope people will join us and help make it an event to remember.

On call firefighters needed in your area
MID and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting on- call fire fighters throughout Carmarthenshire and particularly in Llandeilo, Pontyates and Kidwelly. Vacancies are also available in Ammanford, Llandysul, Llandovery and
Whitland, so if you want to make a difference and help protect your local community then this is your perfect opportunity. By becoming an on call firefighter you will respond to emergencies in your area and work with the community to deliver safety advice. Head of Carmarthenshire County Command Rob Quin said: "We are
approaching members of the community to see if they would consider making themselves available to respond to emergencies, especially during the daytime. You'll get all the training and support you need to tackle road traffic collisions and fight fires. We welcome applications from all members of the community”. Anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter, particularly during the daytime, can call the recruitment team at MWWFRS on 01267 242636 for more information.
