56/ MARCH/APRIL 2013 THE RIDER Hyundai Introduces Their New Luxury 2013 Equus

With the name EQUUS, no horse owner could resist Hyundai’s new 2013 edition which The Rider’s editorial staff viewed at this year’s Cana- dian International Auto Show in Toronto. Equipped with great performance, advanced technology, superb design and the over- all ownership experience customers expect from vehicles in the full-size lux- ury segment, Equus leads the herd.

“We have applied what we learned from selling the Genesis and taken it to the next level with the Equus,” said John Vernile, Vice President of Marketing at Hyundai Auto Canada Corp at a recent press confer- ence. “Customers in the full-size luxury segment place even greater demands on their vehicles than most. The Equus rises to the chal- lenge and delivers a com- plete experience that will exceed their expectations.

This vehicle clearly com- municates our take on luxu- ry and differentiates us from traditional premium brands.”

Equus is built on Hyundai’s world-class rear- wheel-drive architecture and with technology rival- ing the more expensive lux- ury sedans. It includes fea- tures such as a lane depar- ture warning system, elec- tronic air suspension, adap- tive cruise control and a Lexicon® audio system.

“Our primary goal is to redefine the perception Canadians have of Hyundai,” continues Vernile. “At the same time, we want to attract smart luxury buyers. To that end, the Equus delivers a level of quality, performance, features, and total luxury experience that allows us to confidently pit it against the best international name- plates.”

Participating dealers offer Equus customers full concierge treatment for the purchase and service of their vehicle within a defined area. Prospective customers can call a dedi- cated 1-800 line to schedule a full product presentation at their home or office, as well as for all their service needs. This unique approach is intended to save customers time, some- thing Hyundai believes to be one of the most valued luxuries for buyers in this market segment.

5.0L GDI V8 – HYUNDAI’S MOST POWERFUL ENGINE YET

The Tau 5.0-litre incorporates advanced engine technolo- gies including Dual Contin- uously Variable Valve Tim-
