Well hello again! As I sit down to write to you this month I would love to be able to do so on a happy note.
Although we are near- ing our beloved show season we have to take the time to
remember a great man. Mr. Bill Stirling was a long time judge and supporter of WHAO who fought a coura- geous battle before passing away peacefully on February 24, 2013 at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Bette (Muir), and pre- deceased by his first wife of
59 years, Doreen (Hopwood). Beloved father of Scott (Gail) and Randy (Cheryl). Dear brother of Mildred (Andy), and predeceased by his brother George and sister Marilyn (Bill). Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Robin, Nicole (Mike), Andrea (Neal), Brent (Mau-
reen), Drew (Randi), Chad (Karen), Chelsey (Shane) and great-grandchildren Matthew, Clara, Ava and Arlen. Bill was also loved and will be missed by his extended family; Brian and Lisa Muir, George and Kathy Mancini and grandchildren David, Charlissa, Jason, Philip (Jen) and Allison. Bill has been retired for the past 23 years and previously worked for Kemp Construc- tion for 41 years. Bill was a dedicated horseman and judge for a great many years, but had a soft spot in his heart for his favourite horse, Mac, who he continued to ride until his final days. His funeral service was held at the DONALD V. BROWN funeral home in Stoney Creek on Wednesday Febru- ary 27th at 11am. In memory of Bill, donations to the Juravinski Hospital or Tap- leytown United Church would be appreciated by the family. On-line condolences may be made at:

on the Friday night and will be holding Point award shows on Saturday and Sun- day. We will be offering our mandatory 21 classes as well as a few extras that are still to be determined. This will allow a full weekend of showing and everyone will still have a day to relax and have fun on July 1st. Stalls and camping hookups will be a first reserved first served basis. We will soon have our show package finalized and on our website. Keep check- ing back to see updates as they are posted. We are well on our way with the help of our generous sponsors but are always looking for more! The more sponsorships we have , the better the show can be!!!

Make sure to get your WHAO membership soon. You must have a yearly membership to accumulate points towards year end awards. You can download the membership form from our website
www.whao.org or fill one out when you see us at Can-Am Equine Empo- rium. A single membership is $20 and a family member- ship is $30. With your mem- bership you get a subscrip- tion to ‘The Rider’ and you will be covered under WHAO’s insurance while competing at WHAO Point Award shows.
As we draw nearer to the first shows we are reminded of all the people who have helped us along the way. We can never thank them enough but we certainly can make sure that they know how much we appreciate all that they have done for us. I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has helped WHAO become the association we are today. We have to thank our judges, like Bill Stirling, our founding members, all of the executive over the years, and our gen- erous members and sponsors. I once heard an excellent motto and I think it applies here. “Every job is an expres- sion of the person doing it. Sign your work with excel- lence” As an organization I can see the signatures of all these amazing people and their contributions to WHAO. We have become a great organization and we couldn’t be here without all that you have done!
