Construction At Caledon Equestrian Park Ahead Of Schedule Equestrian Management Group anticipates May re-opening of well-known equestrian facility
By Andrea Cascone
The Equestrian Management Group has been overseeing the ren- ovation plans for Cale- don Equestrian Park and they are pleased to announce that work is progressing ahead of schedule. The renova- tions will allow the Park to better serve the needs of the 2015 Pan Am Games. So far, the storm weather management, hydro services and new footings for three of their rings have all been installed. The develop-
ment project has been broken down into two phases scheduled for off-season work so the park may still operate between construction phases. Craig Collins, managing partner for the group, says that he is proud of the hard work that his contractors and designers have put into the park and is confident they will complete on time for the May, 2013, opening.
He describes phase one of the development plan as being focused mainly on the power
supply and water ser- vices. “We are concen- trating on all the under- ground work first,” he says. “Phase Two will focus more on the visu- ally creative aspects of the new design.” In addition to the many new buildings being constructed in phase two, Collins says that the facility will have new entrances, new sta- ble areas and confirmed many of the rings will be relocated around the park. Landscaping and tree planting will com- mence in April continu-

ing throughout the sum- mer months.
The physical struc- ture of the Park is being renovated along with many of the services, and events the facility currently offers are also being re-imagined. Collins says that he and his team are listening to feedback from their clientele. Many of their customers have speci- fied that they wanted new competition oppor- tunities with their hors- es, so two new shows as well as specialized classes for jumper and hunter competitors have been added to their new schedule. Furthermore, the EGM has increased the level of prize money for Junior and Amateur Competitors.
Regular patrons have the pleasure of enjoying this newly ren- ovated facility prior to the Pan Am Games in 2015. “The entire reno- vation project has been based on two principles. Firstly, there was the motivating factor that Toronto was selected to host the Games, then secondly, and most importantly, is that we want to create a venue with a legacy that will continue to serve future generations of riders.” Keep up-to-date with Caledon Equestrian Park’s renovations at
