much larger boat and were able to continue trolling at the far end of the lake. The boys got to the island a couple hours later for what proved to be the meal of the trip. As they approached us, Jesse stood up in the boat

with a beautiful 17 ½ pound Lake trout. It came from so deep down, attempts to revive the fish and release it were fruitless. The promise from Doug was to mount and present it to Jesse later. But back to the shore lunch. Denis whipped up a

Coleman stove and cooked beans and fried potatoes and breaded chunks of lake trout that were out of this world. When we were stuffed to the eyeballs from our shore

lunch, Denis took Jesse to Little Trait Lake, which is a short portage from Bryson Lake and full of large pike. It was something Jesse really wanted to do. After a couple of hours, it was time to head back to

camp. We were thankful that the trip back down the lake

was wind-aided and after a little rest, I decided to head out alone to do some Spec fishing at one of the lakes a short drive from the camp. I decided to take my chumming fly rod and a wooley

bugger fly and slowly troll into the wind. Within 10 minutes I had a nice 11-inch trout in the boat, and with two more in the creel, I headed back to the camp to prepare dinner for the four of us. We did a little partying that night with all kinds of

games of Ping Pong, Foosball and pool, and few toddies, and it was time to pack it in for the night. Jesse had to leave early the next day for on-ice

training later, and Doug was planning on cleaning up. So Pete and I went back to the speckled trout lake where I had had some success the day before . With a little less wind and another beautiful day, we

drifted and trolled around the lake for about two hours. We caught five fish and released all but one. The one was going back home with Pete for a feed later that day. All in all our three day trip was a huge success. The

four of us ate well, drank well and had hours of great fishing as a bonus. The entire trip wouldn’t have been possible without

the great hospitality of Denis and Laurel. The facilities they provide, way back in the middle of nowhere, are unbelievable. From spaciousness to cleanliness it can’t be beat. If you are planning a hunting or fishing trip for the guys, or a family vacation to do all the things you like to do, Bryson lake Lodge is a perfect facility.
