of walleye fishing before I cooked steaks with all the trimmings for the four of us, with Denis and Laurel as our guests. Jesse and I headed out in one


boat and Doug and Pete in the other. Jesse is a meticulous fisherman. He has three rods on board. He constantly checks water depth so he can run his deep divers precisely. I was trolling a worm harness. We fished a couple of areas


that Denis thought would be good, and Jesse soon hooked a beautiful three-pound walleye. It was a windy day, gusting up to 40 km an hour, so it was difficult to control our boat speed and direction. But we caught a few nice ‘eyes in the afternoon, and so did Doug and Pete. Back in camp around 4p.m., I


started preparing the dinner on the propane barbecue supplied at the cabin, and after a few drinks during happy hour, we had a great feed with


our hosts. Then off we went again to hunt for evening walleye. Denis took Jesse while Pete and


I headed out for a troll. Doug stayed behind to clean up and get ready for our late evening pool, ping pong and foosball fun. After a couple of hours of fishing


and a few walleye on the stringer, we all met back at dark. It was time to top up the drinks and have a little fun in the main lodge We hit the sack at midnight,


dreaming of Tuesday morning’s fishing. In the morning, we headed


out with Denis, chauffeured Jesse and Doug, while Pete and I fished together for some lake trout. We all agreed to meet on one


of the many islands at noon for a shore lunch. Pete and I travelled 20 minutes up the lake to a lake trout hotspot and we didn’t have our line down 10 minutes when Pete hooked in to the first laker. The 3.5 pounder would be invited for the fish fry at noon.


Unfortunately for Pete and me, the winds came up big time to about 40 km per hour and we literally had to get to our meeting place by 11 am with nothing more to show. Denis, Jesse and Doug had a
