you’ve captured our hearts
The history of the Mustang is a peek
at a pillar of American automotive lore. It was never meant to be an exotic car, but rather the answer for a new generation of young, dynamic people who would be dubbed the “Baby Boomers”. Since 1964 the Mustang has cap-
tured the hearts of drivers for more than 40 years, and to this day we all have our favorite model. It comes as no surprise to me that
there is a Mustang club in Ottawa, but what caught my attention was the amaz- ing amount of events and benefits the National Capital Mustang Association (NCMA) offers its members. I sat down with Dave Schyff,
president of the club, and over coffee he shared many stories as well as what the club is all about. Founded in 1991, it has been reaching out to Mustang owners across Ottawa and has reached a total membership of 50. Dave tells me they like to promote friendship and a shared

passion for the Mustang. Starting in May and running to Octo-
ber, the NCMA gets together every Thurs- day at 8 p.m. at Campbell Ford off Carling to meet and socialize. This is followed by a cruise to Tim Horton’s at Merivale and Meadowlands. Dave explains they have added a nice twist to the meetings – on one Thursday a month they cruise to a more distant Tim Horton’s. “So now we have different locations
across Ottawa and the Valley to provide local Mustang owners a chance to come hang out and join us,” he says. He adds they like to take one Sat-
urday a month for a major cruise with a point of interest included, so once they get to their destination they dine and visit a local attraction. The club has partnered with Camp-
