Enjoy the natural environment

If you go down to the woods...

EAST Dartmoor National Nature Reserve (NNR) consists of the Bovey Valley Woodlands (Drakeford Bridge to Foxworthy Bridge), Trendlebere Down (the heathland between Bovey Tracey and Manaton) and Yarner Wood. Although Natural England owns most of the NNR, the Woodland Trust owns parts of the Bovey Valley and Dartmoor National Park own a small part of Trendlebere. You will all notice the new brown signs pointing people in the right direction. East Dartmoor NNR is one of the key areas within the Moor than meets the eye heritage lottery funded landscape partnership project. This aim to connect you as part of the local communities, through volunteering, to the species and historic features found within the internationally important areas of western oak woodland and heathland found here.

As shown through our many volunteering opportunities we can do more together. So if you have a passion for local history, monitoring species, or helping manage the landscape please get in touch. Information about events at NNRs can be obtained by phoning 01626 832330 or on the website – www.naturalengland.org.uk/eastdartmoornnr
