that Genting would be opening on the Vegas Strip, quickly followed by Caesars was both welcome and surprising news, since predictions were that Vegas wouldn’t see a major new opening in the half- decade. The withdrawal of MGM
from the Ho Tram Strip, was equally matched bad news - though comments on G3Newswire regarding adequate ‘due diligence’ provide food for thought on that one. We might have thought the same, but we are not affiliated with the comments in any way!
The news is also legislation-centric with Governments around the world pursuing increasingly liberal policies towards gaming, rewriting legislation in favour of casino operators, while simultaneously drawing up draconian taxation regimes to cripple them. The market most responsible for this yin-yang attitude to gaming is Latin America, with multiple stories this month concerning tax changes - none of them good.
