CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council is seeking more views on its plans to suspend the Right to Buy. The authority is asking the Welsh
Government for permission to suspend the policy which allows tenants to purchase their council or housing association home. A consultation was launched last year, and now people have a final chance to have their say before the application is submitted. Head of Housing, Robin Staines,
said: “The number of families looking for council and housing association homes outnumbers of the number of lettings we can give.
In Carmarthenshire in particular, there is a shortage of affordable rented homes and this is why we want to suspend the Right to Buy which will allow us to retain our housing stock and create a more sustainable future.” Do you have a view to share? DOZENS of shoppers at Llanelli’s Asda store dug deep in their pockets to donate to the town’s foodbanks. Three large shopping trolleys were
filled with much-needed food for people who are experiencing emotional or financial crisis. Cereal, coffee, tinned food, orange juice and biscuits were among the items collected during the six-hour drive. The food banks, located at Myrtle House and Antioch Centre, ensure
that people can access help and support during a time of crisis. Carmarthenshire County Council’s
anti-poverty champion, Cllr Pam Palmer, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who kindly donated to this much-needed service. The food banks are a vital source for people in crisis whether that is because of benefit changes, job loss, delayed wage payments, debt or personal crisis. It’s so important that these banks are replenished and do not
run out of food, so any donations help.” Food is donated by various local including

TECHNICAL theatre students at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Graig campus got their hands on top of the range industry standard lighting systems which are used in TV, rock concerts and theatres. Leading companies in the industry
which supply some of the largest entertainment events in the world with innovative lighting effects visited students to help them learn about new technologies. This event
provided students with an
opportunity to test out equipment from Avolite, Robe UK and T&M Technical Services which included lighting desks that electronically operate moving and static lighting systems. Part of the display was equipment that uses filters and creative imagery for light projection techniques, used by popular TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing.
