ICE Welcomes SoundGate, Applauds Latest Mystery


Phone Shopper Winner In Car Experts has partnered with SoundGate, a division


of Kicker that produces integrated audio upgrade products for factory audio systems. The partnership was formed to allow ICE members access to what is currently the most comprehensive line of seamless fit OEM grade audio upgrade systems. Additionally, Kicker will use the collective feedback of ICE retailer members to assist in the further development of the SoundGate brand and product line.

“No one can argue that car audio is changing and will con- tinue to change,” said Rob Elliott, executive director of ICE. “It is not good enough to only cater to car audio enthusiasts. Retailers must also be able to reach out to those car owners who enjoy music enough to desire an improvement, but are not open to altering their car in any way to do so.” SoundGate consists of two “stages:” The SubStage includes a loaded subwoofer enclosure, integrated amplifier, wiring kit and mounting brackets. The upgraded PowerStage adds a multi-channel amplifier to provide better, cleaner power to factory speakers. “We are very excited to be part of ICE,” said Jeff Peters,


director of sales for Kicker. “The collective feedback from this group is exactly what we need to ensure that we can deliver unique products specialists can benefit from. We are all in and have chosen to support the ICE group in all of its members’ marketing efforts.”


Additionally, ICE continues its monthly


“Mystery Phone Shopper” program, designed to assess and reward retailers who create engaging and professional first impressions to customers who call the store on the phone. ABC Auto- motive Electronics, a three-store chain with


locations in Chicago, Forest Park and Elk Grove, Ill., was the winner for February. According to ICE, the chain scored 44 out of a possible 50 points in its assessment. However, a previous assessment showed room for improvement. “When ICE brought to my attention that our initial score was poor, I realized how important it was to retrain our sales staff on the phone. I was not going to let this happen again,” said John Faust, general manager at ABC. “The impact has been incredible. We have seen a signifi- cant amount of quality traffic come into our store. ICE has helped us perform at our best with the Mystery Shopper program.” 
