Kenwood

The Big Intros: At the center of the hubbub is the DNN990HD, Kenwood’s Wi-Fi-capable receiver that brings online content to the vehicle through a dedicated server. HD Radio, Pandora and SiriusXM grow in the head unit line, while Siri compatibility shows up in 15 models. All head units feature iPhone 5 audio compati- bility.

The Big Picture: Retailers are at the forefront of Kenwood’s strategy with a first-quarter promotion to reward qualifying dealers with extended payment plans and almost-free demo units. “Grow and Go” promises to take top dealers on a 7-night cruise in October.

Intraphex Te company introduced its CTMD line, two models that combine a capacitive touch screen with prismatic glass to hide a monitor when not in use. Te “smart” model features built-in navigation, Bluetooth and camera input, along with a Wi-Fi dongle to add Google points of interest to a naviga- tion search.

Directed Directed makes a commitment to digital integration with its Spress Start 1 and DB-All, which “talk” to vehicle bus systems to enable door locks and remote start. Te company also introduced plug-and-play har- nesses that further shorten instal- lation time on applicable vehicles, currently Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, GM, Toyota and Lexus. Te SmartStart app ads a referral bonus for friends.

Alpine

Alpine’s PerfectFit line is up to more than 16 models and will continue to grow this year. Te new INE-W927HD brought the features of the popular 8-inch version to the tradi- tional double-DIN masses. Te ICS-X7HD is the company’s first MirrorLink-compatible head unit.

Concept Concept keeps flip-downs alive with CFD-105 (10.5-inch) and CFD-135 (13.3-inch), which introduce an HDMI input to allow connection to smartphones with a mini-HDMI output. MSRPs are $489 and $579 respectively. Two headrest models, with and without DVD, also get HDMI inputs.
