Burton Joyce Village Hall’s protective seals were being worn away on a daily basis. Because of this, Brightwood Flooring was called in to rescue the floor. The hall’s original floors are made from softwood, but at some point in its history a maple wood floor was laid on top. To bring this surface back to life
they started by sanding the floors right back to the boards. Once this was com- plete, they applied four coats of Master Finish –Matt Finish from Granwax. Master Finish, a fast curing, two component water-based polyurethane finish, has been specifically created for wooden floors that are subjected to heavy wear, so was the perfect choice for Burton Joyce Village Hall.

Portfolio available to 4D designers enq.237
Four years ahead of the UK government deadline, Tarkett has become the first flooring manufacturer in the UK to make available online its complete 4D Building Information Modelling (BIM) portfolio. In the construction industry 4D design is increasingly popular and will become mandatory for all UK govern- ment construction projects from 2016. Tarkett’s BIM enables the company’s flooring solution designs to be easily downloaded for use in 4D construction mod- elling. Already the portfolio has been downloaded nearly 500 times and Tarkett hopes this will reduce waste for contractors and designers using BIM. It does away with the often complicated 2D paper drawings and allows for easier to understand 4D computer generated models to be used by contractors and sub-contractors, speeding up delivery and eliminating unnecessary waste. The move to reduce waste adds to Tarkett’s already impressive sustainability credentials. The company has its own recycling plants at its European factories.
