buildings via a programme of research into the design, testing and integration of solar building components (BIPV). Also, the development of future standards will assist building- and ground-mounted PV projects to become a significant net con- tributor to UK energy mix. From its headquarters in Cornwall, the NSC will forge
strong and practical links with industry, universities and other research organisations across Europe, thus leveraging valuable knowledge and experience from the UK and other countries, leading to domestic and international opportunities. Based on analysis of data from actual systems, and supporting
both building-integrated and large-scale solar, the functions of the NSC will be as follows: •To use multiple data sources from solar PV installations for macro and micro data analysis
•To be an observatory to examine best practice in the UK and internationally and become ‘the place’ for information on solar PV (including smart grids, storage, power output prediction etc)
•To support the development of future standards to increase quality of PV installations
•To support UK solar industries in a worldwide market •To provide due diligence consultancy & testing for newbuild.
